The Port Whangarei was delayed at Wellington on Tuesday night, and is now due here to-day. She is to sail this afternoon for Dunedin and Timaru, and is due back on Sunday, to load on Monday for Wellington, Auckland, Tauranga, and Whangarei.

The Hauraki was delayed at Wellington on Tuesday night by a dispute with the crew, and is now to arrive here today. She has cargo from Pacific Coast ports of Canada and the United States for discharge, and will load here for Australian fcorts, Lautoka, Apia, Papeete, and Pacific Coast ports. The Wainui is due here to-day from Timaru and will take in cargo for Napier and Gisborne.

The Gale is to load here to-day for Wellington and Wanganui. The Walmarino. due to-day from Auckland and Wellington, will sail for Dunedin and Bluff.

The i (j rs t of these vessels, the Essex, was launched recently. The ships, which have' large refrigerated spaces, are of the shel-ter-deck type, and are of about 11,000 tons gross, the principal dimensions being: Length b.p. 530 ft, breadth 70ft, and depth 47Jft. The propelling machinery consists of two sets of opposed piston oil engines, the horse-power of each engine being 6500 at 120 r.p.m. These units, it is interesting to note, are the highest powered of the type so far constructed. t PERSONAL j 1 Captain E. WALDEN The tanker G. S. Walden, en route from Los Angeles to New Zealand, is due at Auckland on December 1, and will discharge later at Wellington and Dunedin. MATAKOA’S MOV EMENTS The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Mataroa will not now load at Gisborne. The vessel is due at Wellington next Saturday from Auckland to complete discharge of her London cargo and to commence her Homewoard loading. She will leave Wellington again on November 23 for Napier and Auckland to fill up, and is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on December 4 for Southampton and London, via Panama.
