MR W. H. Within a week of the death of his brother, Mr John Nixon, of Kallinchy, the Rev. Samuel Nixon, Presbyterian minister at Pukerau, Southland, died after a short illness. He was the third son ofMrand Mrs William Nixon, early settlers at M linchy. WELLINGTON, November 11. The death has occurred of Mr A. W. Newton, who was prominent in business and social circles in Wellington. Mr Newton arrived in New Zealand in 1884. His father. Mr John Newton, established the Caledonian Soap works and the son later joined him in the business, which was formed into the company of John Newton and Son, Ltd., in 1903. Mr A. W. Newton was the managing director until health caused him to relinquish direct control. He was also Consul for Norway until last year.
