MAORI FOOTBALLER’S DEATH
TEAM MATE TO BE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER

A charge of manslaughter is to be preferred against Hawea Mataira. the well-known All Black, concerning the death of Bernard Edward Rogers, a member of the New Zealand Maori Rugby team which played Australia at Palmerston North ■on September 23. Rogers was admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital on the night of the match suffering from serious head injuries. The manslaughter charge hearing and resumed inquest proceedings will take place simultaneously at Palmerston North oh October 14.
