RELAXATION BALL

The relaxation ball held by the students of - Canterbury College always attracts- a large number of present and past students, and is one. of the most popular entertainments • on the social programme each year. Thoughts of examinations were thrust aside last night by the young people who gathered at the Winter Garden for this annual event, and spent a very pleasant time dancing to the music of Fritz Seymour’s orchestra. Interest was added to the evening’s programme by the presentation'of college “blues" by Mrs Jv Right. ■ , - As' honoured guests the committee had invited Dr. and Mrs J. Hlght, Mr and Mis C. T. POST-WEDDING DANCE

A most enjoyable dance was held last evening in the Caroline Bay tea rooms, when Mr and Mrs W. H. Orbell Levels”) entertained a number ol guests to celebrate .the wedding Of their daughter, Natl, to Mr J. Ritchie. HOSPITAL LADY VISITORS

Mrs E. G. Hogg presided at a committee meeting , of the Hospital Lady Visitors’ Association, held at the Public Hospital, and others present were Mesdsmes S. H. Stewart, J. E. Fleming, P. Cox, R. Beals, P. Wynn-Wil* liams, C. J. Ward, Misses Widdowson. J. Lee, and L. Bowen. Miss Bowen reported that during September 15 patients had been granted one week at the Rhodes Convalescent Home, ! and 13 natients had been granted two weeks. Thirteen garments had been given to needy patients. Mrs Bartram reported that 20 .patients had done occupational work during September. Gifts for the library had beep gratefully received f from Mrs O. Harrison. Mrs C. J. Ward, and Miss N.. Buchanan. Two large parcels of papers and magazines had been received from an anonymous donor. Bills passed for payment amounted to £22 17s Bd. ‘
