TRAWLER DISPUTE
A conference will be held this after* noon between the secretary of the Canterbury Employers* Association (Mr D. I. Macdonald), representing the owners of the trawler Phyllis, and Mr T, Martin, Lyttelton agent for the Seamen’s union, representing the crew, in ah endeavour to effect a settlement of the dispute which has resulted in the vessel being held up for the last 10 davs. Billiards
In the Lyttelton Club’s weekly fiy-Ing-flfty billiards tournament E. H. Green beat E. Chalmers in the final.
Lyttelton Marine Band
Two meetings of members of the Lyttelton Marine Band have recently been held, at which the affairs of the band have been discussed at some length. At the meeting held on Monday night the resignation of the bandmaster. Mr W. Jeffries, was received. Mr Jeffries has been in charge of the band for the last 14 years.
