SHIRLEY METHODIST CHURCH
SPECIAL EFFORT CONCLUDED
The banknote and silver tree effort, organised by the finance committee of the Shirley Methodist Church, in order to> raise funds to pay off the overdraft ati the bank, was concluded on Saturday evening last, when a social gathering was held in the schoolroom. Bags, which '.had been previously distributed among the members of the church* were returned with gifts of money, and placed on the tree, which occupied the centre of the platform. • The amount of £43,10s was realised. An attractive programme hsd been arranged, including songs by Miss Jean Collier, recitations by Miss Ruth Emmett# part songs by the choir, and a humorous play, entitled “A Marriage Has, Been Disarranged,” by members of the -Women’s Guild.
