CHRISTCHURCH TO WAIMATE ROAD RACE At a meeting of the sub-committee In charge of the arrangements tot the Christchurch to Waimate road race, which Is to be held on Saturday. October 10, the following officials were appointed to. control the start of the race at the Show Grounds: Patron, Mr J. W. Beanland (Mayor); superintendent, Mr J. M. Coffey; starter, Mr W. J. Walter: marksmen, Messrs M. O’Donoghue, L. Dawe, H. D. London, A. L. Moffat, C. Bennett/ J. R. Atkinson, P. O’Shea, W. J. Palmer, P. Jones. N. Jones, W. Britten, L. McNeill, C. Bell; seal, check and tyre examiners, Messrs C. Bright, A. C. Walker, P. Hill, W. P. Daly; announcer, Mr A. B. L. Smith; timekeepers, Mr and Mrs W. J. Walter, Mr G. Henderson, and Mr A. W. Jones; pace observers, Messrs C. Hayward, G. F. Goodall, E. A. McKaskell, G. E. Perkins, J. M. Coffey; clothes steward, Mr O. G. Oakley; handicappers, Messrs P. C. Lucas and W. J. Walter; gatekeepers. Messrs H. W. Perryman and • T. P. O’Rourke; course directing stewards, Mr S. B. Kershaw (convener); secretary, Mr P. C. Lucas. The secretary reported that arrangements had been made to seal the competitors’ cycles at the O.K. Delivery. 21 Bedford row on Friday, October 9, at 6 p.m. He also stated that the entries were very satisfactory, nominations having been received from New Plymouth, the West Coast, Kalkoura, Otago, and South Canterbury.
