FAIR TURNOVER ON CALL PRICES IRREGULAR Prices were irregular on the Christchurch. Stock Exchange yesterday, but there was a fair volume pf business in a good spread of issues. v

5 Colonial Sugar 43 0 0 UNLISTED STOCK Sale on ’Change 25 Woolworths (Sydney. )ord.) ... 5 7 6 Government New Zealand Government 4 per cent, stock, due 1955, changed hands at £lO5 2s 6d, and more was wanted at £lO5. A late sale of 4 per cent, bonds, due 1946, on Wednesday, was reported at £lO4 ss, and buyers yesterday offered that price without attractin'* sellers. Commercial Bank of Australia were fractionally firmer, with buyers and dealings at 18s 4d, sellers at 18s sd. E„ S., and A. Bank were steady at £5 15s 6d, market closing 6d either way. Bank of New Zealand were firmer on buyers’ offers 38s sd. Auckland Gas changed hands at 22s Bd, and there were further unsupported sellers at 22s 6d. Buyers of Carlton Brewery raised their bids to 61s 3d. Tooths Brewery shares appeared easier, with sellers at 55s tfa. Miscellaneous Broken Hill Proprietary were firm, with sellers and business at 76s 6d, buyers at 76s 4d—the rights to Wei-, lington Alluvials were fractionally weaker, with buyers and business at 2s 9d. sellers at 2s lOd. British Tobacco had improved demand at 43s ;sd. Colonial Sugar were steady at £43, market closing 2s 6d either way. Dunlop Rubber were easier, with business at 17s sd. and further sellers at 17s 3d, buvers at 17s Id. G. J. Coles, cum div. and ex rights, were dealt in at 76s 9d. 76s 6d. and 775. and more were wanted at the highest price, sellers at 77s 3d. Kauri Timber advanced to 24s 9d, closing quotations Id on either side. New Zealand Farmers’ Co-oper-ative 4J per cent, stock, due 1939, changed hands at £92 ss, and that due 1940 at £92 10s. Mining Alexander Mines, 15s, paid, had business at 12s 6d. Mossy Creek showed little variation, with sellers and business at Is 4id, buyers at Is 3d. Maori Gully were firm at 6*d. Skippers remained unaltered at 3|d. Mount Morgans had business on the morning call at 14s lOd, but on the afternoon call dropped to 14s 2d, market closing 14s 2d buyers, 14s 2Jd sellers. Rawang Tin were fractionally weaker with buyers and business at 9s 3d, sellers at 9s 4d.
