A late sale of 4 per cent, bonds, due 1946, on Wednesday, was reported at £lO4 ss, and buyers yesterday offered that price without attractin'* sellers. Commercial Bank of Australia were fractionally firmer, with buyers and dealings at 18s 4d, sellers at 18s sd. E„ S., and A. Bank were steady at £5 15s 6d, market closing 6d either way. Bank of New Zealand were firmer on buyers’ offers 38s sd. Auckland Gas changed hands at 22s Bd, and there were further unsupported sellers at 22s 6d. Buyers of Carlton Brewery raised their bids to 61s 3d. Tooths Brewery shares appeared easier, with sellers at 55s tfa. Miscellaneous Broken Hill Proprietary were firm, with sellers and business at 76s 6d, buyers at 76s 4d—the rights to Wei-, lington Alluvials were fractionally weaker, with buyers and business at 2s 9d. sellers at 2s lOd. British Tobacco had improved demand at 43s ;sd. Colonial Sugar were steady at £43, market closing 2s 6d either way.
