LEGISLATION IN NEW ZEALAND
“SOMETHING LIKE A REVOLUTION” LONDON NEWSPAPER’S VIEW LITTLE DISCUSSION IN BRITAIN (nxmx) r*Baa absociatio* — ropiaionr.) (Received August 19, 11.5 p.xn.) LONDON, August 19. The .“Financial News” says: “With less dramatic European events, the experiments the Savage Government is making in New Zealand would have commanded considerable interest. Actually Mr Savage has accomplished something like j» revolution in New Zealand affairs without arousing any real discussion in Britain. Moreover, he has enacted his policy with a rapidity second only to M. Blum (Prime Minister of France), and effectiveness second to none. “New Zealand at present is prosperous, and while exports expand there should be no question of New Zealand’s credit status. On the other hand, although Mr Savage ostensibly does not intend to follow toe footsteps of Mr J. T. Lang, his views may change if a depression again hits New Zealand. “In short, the Savage Government in time of prosperity is unlikely to bother toe British investor, but when a depression comes toe story may be quite different.” GILBERT AND SULLIVAN MUSIC AT FUNERAL ■ ♦ (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, August 18. Music from the Gilbert and Sullivan operas will be played at the funeral on Thursday of the famous Savoyard, Sir Henry Lytton.
