WORK OF ARBITRATION COURT
ALMOST 500 APPLICATIONS HEARD (PBBSS ASSOCIATION TKLZGBAM.I AUCKLAND, August 18. The Arbitration Court has dealt during the last few months with almost 500 applications for the fixing of hours of work under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act and the Factories Act. Applications under the Factories Act might concern anything from 20 or 30 to 200 or 300 separate employers. The court has issued about 50 judgments, for the most part covering an industry right throughout the Dominion, The court has now -dealt with practically all applications that were received in time for the recent Wellington sittings and has only a few on hand. The court fully expects to have all these applications dealt with by September 1, the date on which the 40-hour week comes into general operation
