.WAIKARI CANDIDATES AT RANGIORA Confirmation services at Rangiora, Sefton, and Tuahiwi were conductea by the Bishop of Christchurch «ne Right Rev. Dr. Campbell West-Wat-son) yesterday. Eighteen candidates were offered at a morning service a Sefton, 32 at Rangiora in the afternoon, and six at Tuahiwi in the evening. Tooms, who will shortly leave New Zealand to make their home in England, were recently entertained at a social evening by members of the Sheffield Presbyterian Church, of which Mrs Tooms has been a member. The time was spent in games, competitions. and community singing. Competitions were won by Mesdames J- D. Tooms and D. Bulmc” and Mr J. D. Tooms. Musical items were given by Miss M. Bates (song), Miss Rona Eaves (piano solo), and Mrs D. Bulmer (’cello), Mrs L. W. Rothwell. (piano), and the Rev. L. M. Rothwell (flute) gave an instrumental trio. Mrs T. S. Innes, for the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, and Mrs S. W. Bulmer, for the Ladies’ Guild, spoke of the untiring way in which Mr and Mrs Tooms had worked for the chruch. Mr Rothwell then presented Mrs Tooms with a silver bread knife and Miss Bridget Tooms and Master John Tooms each with a napkin ring. Billiards Match A friendly billiards match between Annat and Waddington was played at the home of Mr and Mrs W. J. Jenkins, “Fair View,” recently. The individual scores were as follows: Annat: Q. A.
