AMALGAMATION WITH CITY
PUBLIC MEETING TO BE CALLED KBW BRIGHTON PROGRESS LEAGUE’S DECISION The monthly meeting of the North Beach Progress League and Beautifying Association was held in the Memorial Hall last evening, with Mr E. A. M. Leaver presiding. Mr Leaver introduced the subject of amalgamation with Christchurch. He considered that the time had arrived when the league should take some action m getting the ratepayers and residents d decided that the league hold a public meeting in September m support of the amalgamation- of New Brighton and the city of Christchurch. It was decided to ask Messrs Leaver and A. S. Taylor to address the meeting. Tne secretary was instructed to invite the Mayor of New Brighton to preside and the councillors to attend. It was resolved that the league support any efforts to secure a reduction In the telephone rental rate and approve of the action of the New Brighton Business Men's Association.
