* PAPANUI CLUB . On Saturday afternoon the Papanul Amateur Cycling Club held a teams' sealed handicap race over a course of 30} miles to Woodend and back. Thirtyfour riders took part. The teams were dispatched at one minute intervals, the scratch team going away first, followed by the other teams in order of handicaps. The scratch team, averaging 25} miles an hour, recorded fastest time and rode brilliantly to win the handicap by 43 seconds from the 2Jmln team, who beat the 45sec team by 31 seconds. Only three seconds separated the teams for third and fourth places. Results:—No. 1 team (F. J. Grose, R. B. Blakeway, I. J, Taylor, J. C. Murray, and T. A. Grose), scr, 71min 40sec, 1 and fastest time; No. 4 team (4}min), 74min 53sec, 2; No. 2 team (45sec), 73mln 49sec, 3; No. 3 team (limin), 74min 27sec, 4; No. 6 team (lOmin), 83mln 40sec, 5; No. 5 team (4min), SOmin 37sec, 6. TECHNICAL CLUB The Technical Club held a 26-mlle road race, starting and finishing at Lincoln road. Results:—A. J. Day (8mln), 72min 45sec, 1; Len Green (8mln), 72min 45 1- 2; D. Green (lOmin), 74mln 45 2- 3; R. Smith (8mln), 74min 47sec, 4; M.' Inwood (8mln), 74mln 47 l-ssec, 5; Les. Green (lOmin), 76min 47 2-ssec, 6; O. S. Schulz (scr), 66min 50sec, 7; F. Dobby (4min), 71rain 50 l-ssec, 8; R, Ch Day (3mln), 69min 50 2-ssec, 9; E. G. Taylor (scr), 66min 57sec, 10. O. S. Schulz gained fastest time and E. G. Taylor second fastest time. AVON CLUB A 30-mile road race was held on Saturday afternoon by the Avon Amateur Cycling Chib. The course was from Mairehau to Woodend and back. The riders gradually closed up nearing Kalapoi, and on the return journey F. Harwood, who was making his first appearance, broke awav from the leading bunch. He gained a lead of nearly 200 yards, which ie maintained until within two miles of he finish. Six riders fought out an exciting struggle at the finish. L. R. Hunt was the first scratch man to finish, taking 72min 35sec, whhe J. William* fnl’ed to beat W. Hall's lime of ffmln 47sec for the Hamilton Button by 6sec. Results were:—L. V.
