FIRST DECISION
TRANSPORT LICENSING ACT ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR SEMPLE (PBKS3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) ' WELLINGTON, July 3. The Minister for Transport (.the Hon. R. Semple) to-day announced his first decision as appeal authority under the Transport Licensing Act. The decision referred to an appeal by Gosling and Son, of Blenheim, against a decision by the No. 7 Licensing Authority, concerning their goods service license. ■‘lt appeared from the evidence that Gosling and Son were under the impression that temporary goods service licenses were to be done away with. I wish to make it quite clear that there is no intention of doing this,” said Mr Semple. “As a question of unfair competition has arisen in this case, I desire to say that it is the intention of the Government to make provision under the regulations relating to the control of goods services whereby a licensed operator who is being adversely affected by such competition may apply to me to have the matter investigated. Where that is considered necessary, I shall refer the case to the licensing authority, who will review the license.”
