' ♦ KNOCKED DOWN BY BICYCLIST M. O’Connor, of 589 Barbadoes street, was walking across the intersection of Caledonian road and Edgeware road early yesterday morning when he was struck by a bicycle and thrown to the ground. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital about 7 o’clock suffering from a fractured leu leg. FRACTURED ANKLE A painful injury was received by F. W. Adams, of 623 Worcester stree,, Linwood, when he fell from his bicycle at the corner of Falsgrave and Moorhouse avenues about 6 oclc«k last evening. He was taken to the Pubuc Hosnital suffering from a fractured left ankle. HEAD INJURIES Thrown from his bicycle at the Bank of New Zealand corner, about 9 o’clock last evening, J. L. Luney, of 25 Papanui road, was later admitted to the Christchurch ‘Public Hospital with head injuries. His condition last evening was stated to be satisfactory. LORRY AND TRAIN COLLIDE (PRESS AB3OCIATIOE TBLBOEAM.) INVERCARGILL, July 3. A collision between a lorry and a train going to Tuatapere occurred at the West Plains crossing this afternoon. The driver of the lorry, John Gorton, of Tuatapere, suffered head injuries, and after being treated at the Southland Hospital went to his home. The two other occupants of the lorry escaped, but the vehicle was badly damaged. The engine was also damaged, and had to be brought back to Invercargill and replaced by another one. Turbitt, a New Zealand representative hockey player, suffered a broken jaw and minor head injuries as the result of a collision with a motor-truck, when riding a motorcycle near Blenheim yesterday. WAR VETERAN FOUND DEAD (PHE3S ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 3. The body of David McLeod, aged 30 years, was found in a yard in Manners street this morning. There was an open bathroom window above, from which he apparently had fallen. He was a member of the Corps of Commissionaries and held several war medals, having served with the Canterbury Regiment in Gallipoli, and afterwards in France.
