# —— AUSTRALIA MAKES AGREEMENT LEVY ON ARGENTINE BEEF LONG-TERM ARRANGEMENT (ÜBITBD FUSS ASSOCIATION —CQPTBIGHT.) (Received July 3, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 2. The Australian Associated Press i* informed that an agreement on Australian meat exports to Britain has been reached. The agreement is thoroughly satisfactory to Australia, It not only establishes a levy of id per lb on Argentine beef, and nothing on Australian, but also a reduction in the present Argentine quota while the Commonwealth’s remains unchanged. The agreement will be a long term one, not subject to quarterly revision, thus ensuring Australia a continuous expanding market The agreement must be submitted to Argentina for formal assent, which is not likely to be refused. Commonwealth circles are delighted with the result of the negotiations and consider it establishes a principle .which will be most useful in future negotiations on other commodities.
