♦ OTTAWA AGREEMENT MAY BE REVISED OTHER DOMINIONS NOT YET AFFECTED (BRIIISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received June 17, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, June 16. In reply to a question in the House of Commons, the president of the Board of Trade (Mr Walter Runciman) announced that preliminary discussions with a view to the revision of the Ottawa Agreement with Canada would begin soon. The Association of British Chambers of Commerce, the Federation of British Industries, and the National Union of Manufacturers, as well as bodies representing particular industries, had been invited to furnish observations to the Board of Trade.
Mr Runciman added that the holding of similar consultations with representatives of industry to prepare for the possible revision of the Ottawa Agreements with other parts of the Empire did not arise at present.
