CUTHBERT—SEATON Many friends gathered at Tinwald Presbyterian Church to witness the marriage of Eileen Myrtle, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs R. Seaton, Maronan road, end Mr James Cuthbert, of Pendarves. The Rev. W. McNeur, of Pleasant Point, performed the ceremony, and was assisted by the Rev. D. D. MacLachlan, of Tinwald. Miss E. Lowery was organist. During the signing of the register, a duet was sung by the Rev. R. R. and Mrs Seaton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of ivory satin, made with cowled neckline caught with a spray of orange blossom and pearl clip, and long, fitting sleeves pointed over the hands. Her circular veil of embroidered tulle was held with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of White chrysanthemums, roses, and maidenhair fern. . Miss Alice Hawkins, of Tinwald (cousin of the bride), was bridesmaid, and Miss Dorothy Seaton, niece of the bride, was flower-girl. Miss Hawkins’ frock was of pale green georgette, patterned in floral design in autumn tonings. She wore a bandeau of flowers to tone, and carried a bouquet of gold chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The little flower-girl wore a pale green silk marocain frock, made with puff sleeves, and trimmed with frilling. She wore a ribbon bandeau and carried a posy to tone. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr C. Reid.

At the receptio» held in the Presbyterian Hall, the guests were received by Mr and Mrs Seaton and Mrs Reid, aunt of the bridegroom. When Mr and Mrs J. Cuthbert left for their wedding tour, the bride was wearing a brown ensemble and a brown felt hat. KAY—GIBB At St. Paul’s Church an evening wedding of considerable interest to Banks Peninsula and Christchurch friends was celebrated recently, when Ella, only daughter of Mrs Gibb and the late Mr W. W. Gibb, of Le Bon’s Bay, and Ernest, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. Kay, of Spreydon, were married by the Rev. J. Hayward. Mr A. Lilly was the organist. The bride, who was escorted by her cousin, Mr J, G. Truman, wore a beautiful frock of beige silk lace in a leaf design, made in trained princess style, the neckline being slightly cowled and fastened with brilliant clasps. A spray of orange blossom was ( worn on one shoulder. Her hat was of. golden brown velour, trimmed with tangerine and brown feather mount, and she carried a shower bouquet of hothouse flowers in tangerine shades. She was attended by her cousin, Miss Frances Leonardo. Her frock of rose pink metal-run silk crepe, trimmed at the cowled neckline, puffed sleeves and waist with lame, was slightly trained. Her hat was of the same shade in soft felt, and was trimmed at the back with an ostrich plume. She carried a bouquet of cream flowers and fern. The reception was held at the Winter Garden, where the bride’s mother received the guests. Mrs Gibb wore a soft green floral silk crepe frock, a smart black panne coatee, and black hat. She carried autumn flowers. Mr and Mrs E. Kay will live in Christchurch. TIMAEII NEWS SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mr and Mrs G. W. Gelling (Christchurch), who have been staying with their daughter, Mrs R. G. Kilgqur (Onslow street), after a tour of the Noith Island, win return home tomorrow. , Mr and Mrs R. G. Kilgour left yesterday for Dunedin. Miss Nan Orbell (Levels) is staying with her sister, Mrs K. H. Hargreaves (Kakahu). Mr and Mrs W. H. Orbell (Levels) and Mr Derek Orbell (Balmoral) will visit Christchurch for the wedding of liiss Joan Turnbull and Mr Gould Hunter-Weston to-day. Miss Ngaio Marsh (Christchurch), who has been staying for a few days with Mrs C. T. Ballantyne (Nelson terrace), went to stay yesterday with Mrs R. D. King (Sophia street). Miss Mary Hole was the guest of honour at a handkerchief evening given by her cousin, Mrs A. B. Struthefs, at her home in North street. Bronze and gold chrysanthemums decorated the rooms. Mrs Struthers received her guests wearing a frock of blue marocain, and Miss Hole’s frock was of white marocain, patterned in cherry and black. Those present were Misses Lucy and Grace Mackay, Scota Steward, Helen Fox, Peggy Killick, Marjorie Heasley, Sue Torlesse, Valmai Morgan, Betty Holdgate, Margaret Kerr, Doreen Andrews, and Jean Finlayson.

CYCLING CLUB’S DANCE

Members of the Yaldhurst Amateur Cycling Club held a successful dance in the Yaldhurst schoolroom, music being supplied by Mr M. Colburn. Misses E. Bush and M. Lynskey played extras, and Mr G. M. Annett was master of ceremonies.

Novelty dances were won by Miss I. Crawford and Mr H. Williams, and Mr and Mrs T. Chappell. Amongst those present were Mesdames Grose, sen., C. D. Doyle, J. A. Crawford, F. J. Grose (Papanui), E. B.
