♦ The? Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) will arrive from Wellington by the steamer express this morning, on his way to Dunedin. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) will leave Wellington to-day for Dunedin to open the Otago winter show. The Minister for Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) will leave Wellington this morning for Hastings to address the National Dairy Conference. The Government’s goodwill mission to Samoa, the Minister for Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone), and Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., sailed in the motorship Maui Pomare from Wellington yesterday. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, M.P., accompanied by Mrs Forbes, left yesterday morning for his home at Cheviot. Mr A. B. Lane, manager of the United Press Association, arrived from Wellington yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs Lane, who will stay in Christchurch until Mr Lane’s return in a week’s time from a business trip to the principal southern centres. Mr Lester Brown, publicity manager for the Fox Film Corporation, arrived from Wellington yesterday, and is staying at the New City Hotel. Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., was a passenger by the Marama from Wellington yesterday. Messrs J. P. O’Connor (Auckland). W. T. Foster (Napier). J. T. Martin, and C. W. Budd (Wellington) were visitors at the luncheon meeting of the Christchurch Rotary Club yesterday.
