In the senior game, Waratahs beat Wanna by 24 to 13, and Junction 14 beat Ahaura 11. In the junior match Waiuta 11 beat [ Junction 8, and Mawheraiti beat Reefton by 15 to 5. At the result of the selection cf Miss Joan Kirk, Blackball, a.i the queen to renresent the Valleys in the Technical '# een carnival, an enthusiastic women’s committee was formed in Blackball. The committee comprises Mesdames Kirk. Driscoll, Campbell (secretary), Park, Kidd. Beale, Williams, and Davies. On Saturday afternoon a jumble stall was held in the Druids’ Hall. Presentation The Loyal Blackball Lodge and numerous friends held a banquet recently, the guest of honour being Bro A. McLuskie. Bro. A. Robertson, N.G., spoke of the work that Bro, A McLuskie had done in furthering the interests of the lodge. In presenting Bro. McLuskie with a silver smoker’s companion as a token of appreciation of his many years of service, Bro. Robertson wished him every success in the future. The chairman’s remarks were endorsed by Bros. Clarke, Sneddon, and Cruse. Bro. McLuskie suitably responded. Later in the evening Mrs James Kidd was presented with a crystal trinket box and Mrs S. Martin with a set of knives in recognition el their work for the lodge.
