IMPORTANT BILL REJECTED BY SENATE (Received June 12, 7.15 p.m.) OTTAWA, June 11. A heavy blow was dealt to the Cwtmment by a hostile Conservator Senate majority, in the rejection of the bill proposing to amend toe J&’itish North America Act and virtual constitution of the Dotoinion Government. It was prothrough amendments, to give provinces the right to impose toaas directly to meet debts and re- **** .payments; also to set up a DoLoan Council under which loans would be conJJr Arthur Meighen. Conservative JSjaer in the Senate, insisted that •met taxation for the provinces Vroold wreck the confederation.
