MR W. M. HUGHES NOT IN DANGER
CHEERFUL AFTER ACCIDENT IN AEROPLANE (Received June 12, 10.26 p.m.) BRISBANE, June 12. The condition of Mr W. M. Hughes, who was injured in an aeroplane accident yesterday, is satisfactory. “If I had been a betting man I would cheerfully have given the odds at 50 to one against our getting down safely,” he observed in an interview to-day. Mr Hughes, who is now 71, insisted on eating a three-course meal and reading a newspaper before allowing the doctor to attend to his fractured collarbone.
