AUSTRALIAN IRON FOR JAPAN
DEVELOPMENT OF DEPOSITS IN NORTH-WEST (Received June 12, 11.21 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 12. Negotiations are well under way to develop iron ore deposits on Yampi Sound, North-West Australia, the leases having been acquired by the* H. A. Brassert Company, Ltd., a British company of consulting engineers, whose representative, Mr T. V. Salt, has arrived i, Sydney on the liner Mooltan en route for Japan. He estimated the output to be more than 500,000 tons of iron ore a year. The main buyer will be Japan. Mr Salt said his company was dealing with very responsible and important interests in Japan. Employment will be given to a large number of Australians. The venture has the approval and co-opera-tion of the Commonwealth and West Australian Governments.
