N.Z. HOCKEY TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR BILLETDiO DISCUSSED [THE PRESS Special Service.! BLENHEIM, June 11. A meeting of the committee of the Come to Blenheim Association was held, when a deputation from the Marlborough Hockey Association . at* tended to discuss matters for the coming New Zealand women’s hockes ' championship tournament Mr A W. Taylor said that the tour-. nament had been definitely allotted to Marlborough this year, and the fixture would be held probably about the end of August The Hockey Association wanted the assistance of the Come to Blenheim Association in pntArtaining and billeting the visiting teams. The president of the Come to Blenheim Association, Mr W. W. Taylor, assured the deputation that his association was only too willing to assist, It must be understood that his association could not draw on its fund* in the event of expenses being incurred by having to provide accommodation for visitors. ~Mr Taylor mentioned that there was the possibility of not being able to obtain private . accommodation for the teams, which would mean that board would have to be provided. A scheme to raise funds for this eventuality had already been commenced. It was decided to form sub-commit- q tees from both associations to look after the billeting, and the Come to Blenheim Association agreed to arrange for the entertainment of visitors. Mr Innes, of the Hockey Association mentioned that as there was the possibility that one or two Maori teams would be competing he had approached Mr McDonald, who had signified his willingness to billet ail Maori visiting players with resident* at the Wairau Pa. At the conclusion of the meeting the committee which conducted the recent bazaar at the Town Hall met. The treasurer, Mr R. J. Dunckley. tabled an interim financial statement, which disclosed that the proceeds for the bazaar amounted to about £3OO. and after deducting expenses the net profit was approximately £2lO. Collie Dog Trials The Marlborough Collie Dog Trial Club’s annual trials were begun at the , Vernon range, and the first event heading, bringing back, and holding in ring, has been concluded. Mr J.
