FENDALTON TRAM SERVICE
TO THS SBITOS Of THS PSSSS. Sir,—May I reply to a lett® published on June 9 written by “Regular Tram User.” He or she is complaining of the Fendalton service. Certainly it is the worst service In Christchurch. “Regular Tram User” does not realise that Christchurch is going ahead when he or she refers to motor-cars as a nuisance. May I state one or two back memories. I remember when the o}d drags were running to Riccarton as far as Hansen’s store, and Coach corn®, and one to Fendalton. Then horse trams came in and went to Sumner, Brighton. Riccarton, and Fendalton. Then steam trams made an appearance, and horse trams disappeared. Then came electric trams. Motor-buses appeared and disappeared, and electric buses came into the running. “Regular Tram User” does not think that things must go ahead. One item I forgot The old horse and gig have gone, and the motor-car has taken their placet Trams will soon be a thing of the past; then “Regular Tram User” will be glad of a motor ride into town. If “Regular Tram User” was in a hurry he would no doubt ring up f® a taxi, as the tram would be too slow for him. So why run down the motorists who have no trams in the country?— Yours, etc., NO. 1 MOTORIST. June 9, 1936.
