Shortage of Houses Following on the reported shortage of houses lor renting in Christchurch, enquiries made in Lyttelton yesterday showed that the position in the port is even more acute. There are practically no modern houses available, and no houses are being built for renting. There are instances of new arrivals in Lyttelton having to wait for months before obtaining a suitable home, and houses which are likely to become vacant are usually let many weeks in advance.
