SUTHERLAND— WALLER

At St. Paul's Presbyterian Church the wedding was celebrated recently of Ivy EtheL second daughter of- Mrs B. Waller (St Albans) and of the late Mr B. Waller, to John Cowie, eldest son of Mrs J. G. Sutherland (Mataura) and of the late Mr J. G. Sutnerland. The Rev. A. C. Watson' performed the ceremony and Mr Liny was organist. x , . . a „ The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr G. H. Bailey, wore a parchment satin frock, cut on classical lines, the cowl neckline being caught with a spray of orange blossom, and a shirrea fan-shaped panel in the skirt formed a train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a halo ox orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of hothouse flowers. Miss Zena Waller, the bride's sister, attended as bridesmaid, wearing a picture frock of peach pink satin, made with shirred elbow-length sleeves, and an ankle-lehgth skirt, trimmed with pastel-shaded rosebuds. Her head bandeau was of real flowers to tone with her frock, and she carried a bouquet of shaded pink flowers. Little Betty Vial, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Her frock was of pale blue taffeta, trimmed with ruching on the neck yoke and the hemline. Her pleated cap was of taffeta trimmed with rosebuds. Mr S. Sutherland attended his brother as best man. A reception was held at the Automobile Association's rooms, Worcester street. Mrs Waller wore a frock of black and white patterned marocain, a facecloth coat with a sealskin collar, and a black and white fur felt hat. She carried a bouquet of autumn flowers. Mrs Vial, sister of the bridegroom, wore a navy and white ensemble with navy Breton hat, and carried a bouquet of scarlet flowers. The bride travelled in a navy pinstriped suit, a skunk stole, and a navy velour hat, relieved with a quill Mr and Mrs J. C. Sutherland will live at Mataura.

Many friends gathered at the East Belt Wesley Church recently, to witness the wedding of Hazel Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. M. Morris (Linwood),. to George, elder son of the late Mr T. Langley, and of Mrs L. Langley, Rangiora. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. L. Fiebig. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of ivory satin, the bodice of lace, having a cowled neckline, and full sleeves caught into pointed cuffs. Her veil, arranged from a lace cap, was of tulle, and the sheaf she carried was composed of white roses and Easter hhes. The bride's attendants were Miss Flora McDonald, who wore a pastelgreen georgette frock trimmed with I frilling, and the Misses Phyllis Morris and Patricia Coulter, sister and cousin ;of the bride respectively, who wore frocks of primrose georgette, made with frilled basques, and trimmed with silk velvet sashes and roses of a deeper shade. Each attendant wore a large crinoline hat to tone with her frock, and carried a bouquet of autumn tints. i Mr Cyril Newton was best man. After the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained the guests at Frascati. The bride's mother wore a frock of dark brown satin-backed crepe relieved with white, and a smart hat to tone. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue suit, fastened at the waist with braid frogs, and her hat was of navy felt. When Mr and Mrs Langley left for their wedding tour, the wearing a nut-brown tailored c-'a-i -4 velour shovel hat.

Recently at St. Peter's Church, Upper Riccarton, the wedding was celebrated by the Rev. H. T. York, assisted by Archdeacon York, of Mavis, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. McDowell, Riccarton, to Louis, third son of Mr and Mrs Ormandy, Riccarton. Mr C. Turner was organist. The bride wore a frock of magnolia satin, the close-fitting bodice being cowled at the neckline, and caughi with sprigs of orange blossom to give a square effect. A panel inset in the back of the skirt formed a long train. Her veil of cut tulle was arranged, from a lace cap trimmed with orange blossom buds, and she carried cream freesias and roses. The Misses Nancy McDowell and Alma Ormandy, the bridegroom's cousin, wore trained frocks of delphinium blue silk crepe, the cowled necklines being trimmed with velvet flowers to match the girdles at the waistlines. Their picture hats to match had wide stitched brims, and they carried flowers to tone. Messrs Victor Ormandy and Richard McDowell attended the bridegroom. A reception was held at Dixieland. Mrs McDowell wore a frock of navy blue moss crepe, with a coat and hat to match. She carried scarlet flowers. The bridegroom's mother wore a black marocain ensemble trimmed with fine pleating and a velour hat. She carried autumn flowers. The bride travelled in a tailored suit of wine boucle, a hat to match, and a grey and wine tweed coat

PARTY AND PRESENTATION

There was a large gathering of members of the Te Whaka Tennis Club at the home of the president, Mrs D. J. Comer, "Rosebank," West Lyttelton, where a party was held in honour of Miss Zeta Neville, whose marriage will take place this week. A jjleasant time was spent in music and competitions. The winners of the competitions were Mrs J. Plimmer, Miss B. Wilson, and Mr H. Wilson. Mrs Comer presented Miss Nevillo will a case of fruit'knives and forks, on behalf of the members of Te Whaka Club, and wished her every happiness in her new home. Those present were Miss Z.
