GIFT PARTIES

A surprise gift party, arranged by Mrs L. Jarman and the Misses Joughin, was held in honour of Miss Bessie Hews, whose marriage will take place this week. Community singing, games and competitions were enjoyed. The guest of honour received many useful gifts for her future home. Mr L. Jarman was master of ceremonies. An enjoyable "pantry" evening party, given by Mr and Mrs H. M. Brown and Mr and Mrs E. Whittington in honour of Miss Doreen Argus, was held in St. Chad's Hall. Music for the evening was played by Mr C. Bond, and Mr H. Brown was master of ceremonies. The programme included games, competitions, and dancing, while items were given by Miss June Smith, Masters Colin Smith, Alan Brown, Messrs W. Wilson, T. Ritchie, and J. Brown. Miss N. DANCE AT KIRWEE

The Kirwee Football Club held its annual dance in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Hall, where there was a good attendance and an enjoyable time was spent. The hall, lounge, and supper room were gay with multi-coloured streamers and flowers. George Holland's dance band played music for dancing, and extras were played by Mrs G. Begg, Misses P.
