BRIDGE PARTY

Y<M.C.A. DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR

This year, the Christchurch branch of the Young Men's Christian Association will celebrate its diamond jubilee, and arrangements are now being made for various functions in order that the jubilee may be celebrated in a suitable manner. The first of these functions was the bridge party held last night in the Automobile Association's club rooms by members of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the association. The auxiliary has as its objective for the year the renovation of the vestibule in the association's building, and the proceeds from last night's party will augment the fund for that purpose. Mrs Stanley Wilkinson, president of the auxiliary, 'Mrs S. L. Partridge, and Mrs J. E. Fleming received the guests. Mrs Wilkinson wore a frock of black georgette patterned in shaded pink and green flowered design; Mrs Partridge's frock of rubric red silk matalasse had uncommon capelets in winged sleeve effect, and was finished at the neckline with a large flower; Mrs Fleming wore a handsome grey fur cape over her frock of black velvet. Many friends of the auxiliary who were unable to be present showed their interest by sending donations. Amongst those who assisted in this way were Mr and Mrs D. S. Dodds, Mesdames E. Edridge, J. W. Archer, who wore a frock of black silk crepe with long ninon sleeves; Mrs V. C. Peters, whose frock of black georgette and lace was worn with a kingcup yellow coatee of ring velvet; Mrs C. B. Russell, who wore a frock of black embossed georgette relieved with a pink rose at the neckline; Mrs H. F. Baird, who wore a rust red frock checked with biskra and black and finished with a narrow black sash; Mrs W. Clay, a frock of black georgette inset with lace; Mrs J. I. Royds, whose frock was of black satin-backed crepe; Miss C. Rogers, who wore a black ring velvet coatee over a white tunic relieved with peasant embroidery and a black silk crepe skirt; Miss I.
