Regret at the death of Miss E. i Herriot, a former member of the staff of Canterbury University College, was expressed by the college council at its meeting yesterday. The chairman (Mr C. T. Aschman) said that Miss Herriot besides being a lecturer in the department of botany was assistant for some time to Dr. Hight as rector. Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp, who cameto Christchurch for the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Victoria League, will return to-morrow to her home, "Silverton," GeraldineDr. and Mrs J. F. Duncan and Miss Relda Duncan (Rossall street) will leave Christchurch by the Moliowai on April 17 for Sydney, where they will join the Orford for a trip to Britain. They intend to return to Christchurch at the end of this year. Mr and Mrs Barry Blundell (Wellington) will be the guests of Mr and Mrs Endell Wankjyn, Rossall street, for the Easter holidays. Mr and Mrs N. T. Shand, accompanied by their niece, Miss Joan Wright, left on Saturday by aeroplane for their home in the Marlborough Sounds. The resignation of MrsE. S. McDonald, who has been paying a round of visits in the North Island, has returned to her flat in Cambridge terrace. Mrs Geoffrey Rich (Cave) is visiting Christchurch and is staying at Warwick House. Starky, Steventon, Whitecliffs. Miss E. E. Earwaker, M.A., has been appointed to a B grade position on the staff of the Avonside Girls' High School as from the beginning of the second term. Miss M. C. Richards, at present relieving at the school; has been appointed to a temporary D grade position for the present school year.

Owing to illness, Mrs John Deans was unable, to attend the annual meeting of the Victoria League yesterday, but a beautiful bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers was sent to her from the meeting with the good wishes of members. Miss Hazel Nolan (Gisborhe), who has been visiting her sister, Mrs lan Murchison, Lake Coleridge station, will arrive in Christchurch to-mor-row, and will stay at Warwick House. At a meeting of the Overseas Women War Workers' Association held yesterday afternoon, arrangements were made to hold a reunion meeting at Ballantynes tea rooms on April 22. Amongst the trained nurses who will visit Christchurch for the reunion of nurses at the Christchurch Hospital on Easter Tuesday will be Mrs D. L. Cameron, of Wellington. Mowbray Tripp also spoke pf Miss Skoglund's remarkable talent for organising, and her tact and understanding. ; At the monthly meeting of the Southbrook-Flaxton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union a motion of sympathy was carried with Miss F. L. Cooper, provincial secretary, in the death of [her mother. More than 500 past and present nurses of the Christchurch Public Hospital will attend the first reunion of nurses to be held in the new Nurses' Home on April 14, and as the reunion will immediately precede the annual conference of the New Zealand Registered Nurses' Association which this year will be held in Christchurch, many nurses will be able to attend both functions. The reunion will commence . with divine service, and after morning tea visitors will be conducted over the hospital. In the afternoon there will be a garden party in the hospital grounds, and in the evening there will be a general roll call. The training school at the hospital started in 1891, but many members can date their connexion with the hospital as early as 1887. The visitors will include at least 16 members who trained before 1900. Mr and Mrs Ernest Boulton have kindly consented to act as host and hostess at a bridge party to be held at the United Service Hotel on Monday evening, April 27, to assist the funds of the local branch of the Palestine Plunket Society. Members of the organising committee are Mesdames E. Boulton (honorary treasurer), A. Hale, J. Bailin, A. Miles, A. J. Benzie, W. A. Erqsmuson, V. Drake, H. Crust, L. J. Lewis, H. Poulton, L. Goldsmith, E. Friedlander, D. Moms, A. Rose, H. J. Wyatt,. Misses E. Corbett, and *V. Balkind (honorary secretary). The lounge- and dining-room will be used, and either contract or auction bridge or "500" may be played, and many prizes will be given.
