LOUISSON FOURS CONTEST

The annual contest among Union Rowing Club crews for the Louisson fours, produced some splendid races over a half mile course. Four crews entered and the results were:— First Heat—J. T. Harris, G. Bryson, R Smith, and D. Wild defeated E. Hessell, A. Palmer, J. Dupree, and E. Flattery by a quarter of a length. Harris set a steadier stroke and drew away over tne closing stages of the race. Second Heat—J. Woodward, F. Nash, H, Wild, and S. Scott defeated W. Corliss, J. Fleming, D. Thomas, and E. Taylor by a foot. It was a neck-and-neck race over the whole distance, with a thrilling finish. Final—Harris's crew defeated Woodward's crew by a third of a length. This was also a splendid race, the winners going ahead only in the last 100 yards.
