A team of five—two runners and three boxers—has been chosen to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games at Berlin in August The following selection was made by the New Zealand Olympic Association to-night J. E. Lovelock, 1500 and 5000 metres. C. H. Matthews, 5000 and 10,000 metres. C. Gordon, feather-weight boxer. N. Fisher, light-weight boxer. T. Arbuthnot welter-weight boxer. The late nomination of V. P, Boot (Canterbury) for BDO metres and 1000 metres wcs received, being forwarded by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-day, but the Olympic Association decided by a small majority not to accept any nominations made after the closing date, March 20. This decision also affected the Canterbury cyclist, G. R. Giles. The association was advised that the
New Zealrad Amawwr Cycling AssocMion was to- reconsider its pxevions decision sot to nominate Giles at a meeting celled fear April 3, and &e asscciatsosa was asked to leave lb* matter open until then. It was decided that it was unable to do so. Dr. A. E. Pomtt, New Zealand's representative ©a the International Olympic Committee, was appointed manager of the New Zealand team. The team willleav* Sydney; by the Mongolia cbl May IS, and will travel via Suez with the Australian team to Eagiaad, where Dr. Porr*tt will take charge of them.
