VISIT TO LINCOLN COLLEGE

LIFE-SAVING

LARGE ATTENDANCE OF

OTAGO FARMERS

Four hundred and thirty tickets wore sold in North Otago for the New Zealand Farmers’ Union excursion to Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, on Saturday. To show as many visitors over the various experiments that arc being conducted by members of the staff and to provide tea for them required a considerable amount of organisation. After they had been welcomed by the director (Dr. F. W. Hilgendorf), for the board of governors and staff, the visitors were divided into four groups, each led by a different-col-oured flag, and the groups moved from field to field and finally to their luncheon ground to a pre-arranged time table.

It was a busy day for the staff, but all the demonstrations were got through without a minute's loss of time and without any confusion of the groups.

British Pavements. Ltd., had brought a “lysoteller” to the college farm, and its work was an added attraction to the usual experimental work conducted by the staff. The train which brought the party discharged and embarked its passengers at a road crossing on the college farm. ,
