FARMERS' TOUR
VISIT TO CANTERBURY PARTY F.iOM BRITAIN AND SOUTH AFRICA Studying the difficulties facing primary production in this country, a party of British and South African farmers is at present touring New Zealand. They are 48 in number, and will arrive in Christchurch tomorrow morning from the North Island. For their two days' stay in Christchurch a comprehensive programme has been arranged by a committee representative of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Canterbury Sheep Owners' Union, and the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. The tour was arranged by the British National Union. The tourists will arrive in Wellington to-day from Ma§terton, and will arrive in the South Island to-morrow morning by the steamer express. Austin, L. C. Tipper, and P. B. Smith. From South Africa: Mr,and Mrs C. W. Albrecht, Mr and Mrs J. Mitchell, Mr and Mrs J. Wreford, Mr and Mrs F. van Zyl, Mr and Mrs John Fisher, Mr and Mrs Naude, Mesdames Cloete, M. S. Cole, Macfarlane, Dr. A. Ernst, Messrs H. H. Dilley, W. Birch, M. R. Boon, J. Malan, H. R. Malan, L. Bishop, and N. Black. To-morrow morning the party will divide, and while some are inspecting the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company's works at Belfast the others will visit the Canterbury Freezing Company's works at Kaiapoi. About half an hour will be spent there, and after lunch at Hawarden the party will see a Corriedale sheep demonstration as the guests of the Corriedale Sheep Society. They will be present at the Culverden ewe fair during the afternoon, and will return to Christchurch after visiting the Amberley domain.
The programme for Friday includes a motor drive during the morning, among the places to be visited being Dyer's' Pass; the Sign of the Kiwi, Governor's Bay, and Gebbie's Pass. They will have lunch at the Lincoln Agricultural College, returning to Christchiirch during the afternoon.
