DRAINAGE BOARD
ONE NOMINATION FOR VACANCY
Only one nomination—that of Mr T. H. Butterfield, a member of the Christchurch City. Council—has been received for the vacancy on the Christchurch Drainage Board caused by the death of Mr Carter! the member for. the Heathcote sub-district. Nominations will close tOrday at noon. If an election is necessary it will be held on Thursday • week, March 19. Mr Carter was returned unopposed at ; the general election of members held at the end of January.
The tender of Mr J. McGregor has been accepted by the Christchurch Tramway Board for running the feeder service between Pleasant Point and New Brighton. The works and traffic committee of the board reported yesterday that four tenders had been received, and in accepting that of Mr McGregor it had undertaken to pay a subsidy of £l2O per annum, , The contractor was - to, supply and maintain his own vehicle, and was to retain all receipts and pay all insurances and fees except the route license.
