NAVAL FORMULAE AGREED ON
TECHNICAL WORK OF LONDON CONFERENCE
LONDON, March 6,
The technical sub-committee of the London Naval Conference on qualitative limitation has agreed on a formula for battleships and a zone of no construction, subject to reservations by the Italian delegation on these'two points. It is understood that the limit for battleships will be 35,000 tons, with 14in guns, provided all signatories to the Washington Treaty agree to these figures by the end of the present year, and subject to reconsideration in 1940. It is understood that the limits of the zone of no construction of vessels between cruisers and battleships will be from 8000 tons to 17,500 tons. The question of the socalled escape clauses is being considered by the various delegations.
