DICKENS FELLOWSHIP

ANNUAL MEETING OF LOCAL BRANCH

Good attendances at all meetings during the year of the Christchurch branch of the Dickens Fellowship were very gratifying to the executive, it Was reported at the annual general meeting of the branch, which was held in the Young Men’s Christian Association concert hall on Saturday. Mr A. E. Caddick presided over a fair attendance. •

The book for the year, “The Old Curiosity Shop," was taken in three sections, and the programmes arranged from it showed that members had made a very comprehensive study of this popular work, it was said. The miscellaneous programmes given during the season and the two addresses by the president were very instructive, it was reported, arid covered many books, thus affording members opportunities of reviewing and extending their knowledge of Dickens. Appreciation of the generous publicity given the fellowship at all times by the Christchurch newspapers is contained in the annual report The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T.
