CONFERENCE OF FIRE BRIGADES

HASTINGS. March 8.
About 120 delegates to the annual conference’of the United Fire Brigades Association,, which begins here to-mor-row mornfng, arrived yesterday. Last night they were tendered an informal reception by the Hastings brigadesmen arid this tnorning they attended church parades at the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. This afternoon they were driven around some of the district. They visited many places of interest, including Te Mata Peak, lona and Woodford House Schools. To-morrow they will settle down to the serious part of the conference, over which ,Mr H. E. Fallas, of Auckland, will preside. The delegates will be . tendered a civic reception by the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison.
