CABINET MEETS
FINANCIAL POLICY DISCUSSED
EARLY AND IMPORTANT LEGISLATION
tfUBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAU.) WELLINGTON. February 14. A full meeting of' the Cabinet was held yesterday to discuss the Government’s financial policy, which is to be embodied in one of the first bills to be presented to Parliament. No detailed statement of the Government’s monetary policy will be issued before the legislative measure giving effect to it has been introduced. The Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J, Savage), at the conclusion of the Cabinet meeting last evening, said that consideration had been given to the Government’s financial proposals, and also to other matters, including several administrative questions. “No details can be given just now,” Mr Savage said; "but it may be said that we are in the last lap as far as the preparation of vital legislation is concerned. When the new Parliament is summoned to its first session, it will not be necessary for members to sit and look at each other patiently awaiting the introduction,of bills. A programme of important legislation will be ready for them."
