(UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPINIGHT.J (Received February 13, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, February .12. Because of the discussions in Europe about the need for a review of colonial possessions and mandates, 25 Conservatives, including Mr L. C. M. S. Amery and Earl Winterton, tabled a motion in the House of Commons opposing the transfer of British colonies and mandated territories, “for the welfare, protection and enlightened government of which Britain holds an honourable trust.” In answer to Sir Henry Page Croft at question time, Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary for the Colonies) stated that his Majesty’s Government had not considered, and was not considering, the handing over of any of the British colonies or territories held under mandate.
