Miss Renae Argyle, who has been the guest of Mrs Victor Baughan, Ashburton, has returned’to Lyttelton. v Inspection of Estates Crs. A. G. Sinclair, W. W. Toy, and G. S. Barnard), made a visit of inspectKm to the borough endowment estates in Mid-Canterbury yesterday; Tennis A , women’s singles tournament, played at the Te Whafca Tennis Club’s courts yesterday,', was won by Miss Gladys Dennis. Miss Olive Hobbs was the runner-up. Yachting As the Christchurch Yacht Club is holding the race for the Gough Trophy at Lyttelton to-morrow the race for the Beryl Stacey Trophy will be held on Sunday morning. The race for the R, G. Whitford' Cup will be held on Sunday afternoon. Swimming Fourteen members started in a novelty race held by the Lyttelton Men’s Amateur Swimming Club at Corsair Bay last evening. The course was partly on shore, and partly in the ■water, several obstacles having tp be climbed in the course of the race. ; The result was: A. Erlcksen (scr) 1, T. Holder (16sec) and J. Mackle (14sec> equal 2, D. Moir (28sec) 4.
