NAVY LEAGUE SEA CADETS
INSPECTION BY VICE-ADMIRAL HARPER
Vice-Admiral J. E. T. Harper inspected the Navy League Sea Cadets last evening at the Canterbury Rowing Club’s shed. He observed the instructional work of the cadets. The cadets, were in chief of Lieutenant-Comman-der. R; C. E. Harding;'with whom were Honorary Lieutenants E. S. A. Collins and S. C. Peddle, Honorary Pay-Lieu-tenant H. O. C. Farr, and Sub-Lieuten-ant J. Connor, Admiral Harper addressed the cadets, stressing the value of the disciplinary training and outlining the work of the navy. It: was a peace machine, he said, and, by its timely, action, had prevented many minor disputes from becoming major onef. The present disturbed; international ■' situation had been caused largely by the reduction of British armed forces her low the safety level. Reference to the British flag as the symbol of justice mid right was made by Admiral Harper during hie address. He also spoke of the , qualities of leadership and the sense of duty in great naval leaders.' The cadets were also' inspected by Messrs F. W. J. Belton and J. W, Hall.
