MOTOR-CYCLES COLLIDE

In a collision between two motorcycles yesterday afternoon Constable Elstone, aged 44 years, of Kawakawa, had his left leg broken in two places, and bis right knee severely' injured. He suffered intense shock. Percy Johansen, aged 21 years, suffered a fracture of the left leg, which was amputated. Constable Elstone is in a critical condition. . Johansen's condition is serious tut be is improving.
HAND INJURED
T. Sutherland, of Dewsbury Jane, Injured a hand'' with an axe while working at the . Waimakariri river yesterday. He was admitted to the Public Hospital.
CYCLIST INJURED
A. C. Smith, of Colombo street, suffered injuries to the head last evening when the crank of his bicycle broke near the Union Rowing Club. He was taken to the Public Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and was reported late last evening not to be in a serious condition.
CHILD LOST IN STREAM ,
IPKBSS ASSOCIATION TNUSNAM.I ROTORUA. February 13. Arriving at a spot on the bank of the Rangitaikl river, near Murupara, a young Maori woman discovered that one of her two small children, who had been playing on the bank of the stream, had disappeared. Seeing something white floating in the stream just below, she immediately plunged . in, only to find that the floating object was a singlet which the child, had been wearing. In spite of a search. by the police and residents yesterday, the body of the child had not been recovered last night.
