HOTEL AT KAEO BURNED U'EESS ASHOCUTIOH TELEOBAM.) | WHANGAREI, November 14. i The Settlers' Hotel at Kaeo, about 70 miles north of Whangarei, was destroyed by fire at 1.30 o'clock this morning. Two boarders and the staff of four escaped in their night attire. Nothing was saved. POWER BOARD'S STORE DESTROYED HEAVY DAMAGE AT LEVIN (MIE33 ASSOCIATION TEIEGUAK.) LEVIN, November 14. A disastrous fire occurred herje this morning, just before 1 o'clock, when the Horowhenua Electric Power Board's store was destroyed. The origin of the fire is unknown, but at the time the alarm was given it had a good hold, and when the brigade arrived flames were bursting through the roof. Under the same roof as the depot are the engineering offices, garages, and feeding plant, but a 40-minute fight by the brigade, aided by the absence of wind, confined the fire to the store. Transformers, ranges, tools, and stock were destroyed. Nothing could be removed from the store, though cars and trucks were brought out from the garage. The insurance on the building is £IOOO and on the stock £ISOO.
FIRE AT HORNBY 1101' SB AND CONTENTS DESTROYED
I A four-vuomed houes on Leslies road, Hornby, owned by Mr E. Henderson, Methven, and occupied by Mr R. S. Pester, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. Fanned by an easterly iireeze, the flames soon gained a strong hold, and nothing was saved. It is thought that the lire originated from the kitchen range while Mrs Pester was away from the house. It is understood that both house and furniture are covered by insurance.
