WELLINGTON, September 12,

The following is the Dominion Observatory's special weather forecast for Canterbury:—;

Moderate io fresh southerly winds, veering' to. easterlies. Weather cold anfl changeable, with "a few coastal showers, but improving. Sharp frosts. Seas rather rough.

The following is the Dominion report:—

Still changeable, with occasional showers on the east coast south of East Cape, and some misty rain or showers also in the fir Worth. Elsewhere mainly fair. Temperatures cold, with sharp inland frosts. The central portion of an anti-cyclone extends across the south Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, while pressure is relatively low over the north Tasman.

Winds—Southerly to south-easterly, still strong and squally between Cook Strait and East Cape, but decreasing, and otherwise moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough between Akaroa and East Cape and in the South Taranaki bight. Elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to fresh east winds, with moderate to rather rough seas.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The spell of damp weather continued in Christchurch yesterday, although the rain was confined to a few showers and much less fell than on previous days. The sky was overcast all day, and the temperature was moderate.

At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was cloudy and a. south-west wind was blowing. The temperature was 40 degrees. The barometer was steady at 30.261 ft,

Wellington—The weather yesterday was cold, squally, and showery, with a strong southerly wind blowing all day. The minimum temperature on Wednesday night was 40.0 degrees. The maximum yesterday was 38.2 degrees. Dunedin—A light south-west breeze and fine weather prevailed yesterday after light showers during the early part of the morning.
