FIJIAN BANANAS FOR NEW ZEALAND
SUVA, June 21. The Waipahi sailed for Auckland to» day with 7886 cases of bananas.
Consideration to the ill-health of Mr J. L. Campbell, chief technician on the X-ray staff of the Auckland Hospital, is to be given at the next meeting of the board in committee. At this week's( meeting of the board the medical superintendent, Dr. J. W. Craven, reported on the further disability of Mr Campbell. It was explained that Mr Campbell was suffering from blood'disease as the result of his work. It was necessary for him to take extended leave, and Dr. Craven recommended that full salary be paid until his leave expired. In all probability he would not be able to return to his work at all. The chairman said Mr Campbell had been in the service of the board for the last 15 years, and he should be given the most generous treatment. Objection to the fact that a solicitor's opinion on the board's legal responsibility had been obtained was voiced by Mr G. T. Parvin, who maintained that it i was a waste of public money.
