HELP FOR THE BLIND
-CONCESSIONS BY TRAMWAY BOARD The chairman, Mr H, Holland, M.P., presided at the monthly meeting of the advisory committee of the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund for the Blind, which was held in the City Council Chambera yesterday afternoon. Messrs A. J. McEldowney, W. T. Woods, and H. Holland were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for a suitable hall for the band of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind when it visits Christchurch on October 19 aad 20, during its tour of the Dominion. A letter was received from Mr H. E. Jarman, acting-general manager to the Christchurch Tramway Board, stating that following the committee's request for reduced tram fares for blind persons, it had been decided to permit blind persons to travel on the cars at the following rates, provided they showed a certiilcate signed by Xhf management: One or two sections Id, three sections and over 2d. Mr Woods stated that 35 to 40 blind persona would benefit by the concession. On the motion of Mr Holland, it was decided to thank the board for the eonteitfriofi.
