Under a Treasury order issued on ! the recommendation of Dig Import I Duties Advisory Committee, the increased rates of customs duties imI posed on certain elementary iron and ! steel products, winch came into force on March 26, are temporarily reduced for a period of three months as from May (J, 1935, to the rates in force before that order was made. The committee reports that an agreement has now been reached between the British Iron and Steel Federation and Die International Steel Cartel for the temporary limitation of imports into this country, from countries represented in the cartel, of products covered by the cartel, to a rate corresponding to the rate of imports from these countries in 1933. This limitation is conditional on duties applicable to these products being reduced during this period to Die rates in force in January last. It is understood that during the limitation period negotiations for a long-term agreement will be actively pursued.
