FINANCIAL RESULT OF "SALLY"
MI'SK'AL COMEDY SOCIETY'S PRODUCTION
The public support given to "Sally," (he Christchurch Musical Comedy Company's production which concluded on Saturday evening, after a season of one week, at the St. James' Theatre, was not as strong as was anticipated by the society, and the venture has not been financially as successful as was hoped. However, the society proposes to present the production again next Saturday evening in the same theatre, in the hope that the support given en that occasion will be suflicient to remove the present deficit. It was rumoured that the result had been such that the society would not be able to continue functioning, but the chairman of the society's committee. Mr G. M. Hall, would not agree that this would be the result. When it was suggested to him yesterday, he said the possibility of the society disbanding had not been discussed. It was too early to know definitely what the financial result would be, although he agreed it had not been quite as satisfactory as the society had expected it to be. If there was a good house at the St. James' Theatre next Saturday evening, there would be no trouble. The last production had not been altogether successful financially, and the society would have to make ends meet if it were to carry on. He said it would be a great pity if a city like Christchurch could not support an organisation like the Christchurch Musical Comedy Company.
