RICHMOND FREE KINDERGARTEN The monthly meeting of the committee of the Richmond Free Kindergarten was held at the school, Mrs E. Hitchcock presiding. Also present were Mesdames F. Billens, Bleasdale, E Dixon, J. C. Forsythe, A. Peverill, A E. Reaby, M. Suckling, Walker, Wood and Miss A. Mcliraith. The school report showed a roll number of 70, average attendance 54, and parents' subscriptions for the three weeks since Easter £3 2s 2d. The holidays had interfered with the regular community sings but the next one would be held on Monday, May 13. A meeting of the parents' committee had been held at the home of the convener, Mrs Blick, to discuss activities for the next term. It was reported that Taylor's Laundry had kindly offered to wash free of charge any article from the kindergarten. The result of the picture competition was made known, the winner being Mrs S. McCausland, a former member of the committee, now resident in Dunedin. The school has closed for two weeks.
